The current edition, prepared as an encyclopedic handbook for parents, provides a vast basis of data about such occurrences of modern reality that have a destructive influence on intellectual, moral, economic, legal basics of both individuals and society at large. The book is beneficial for every family, having practical advice on overcoming the social evils such as alcoholism, gambling addiction and non-prescribed consumption of drugs.
The paradigm of this edition brings with it a load of counteraction against everything negative which surrounds our children and youth today, gives valuable advice in learning to be spiritually strong and make responsible decisions in life. Similar social initiatives help strengthen the healthy powers of society, keep self-conscience, dignity and valuable elements of national culture. The book gives a chance to the whole of society to realize the necessity of a prompt overcoming of a spiritual crisis for the right choice of further safe path.

Attracting attention of world population to the key role of adults in preventing drug addiction among kids and teenagers is the prerogative of the information company UNODC, dedicated to the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. It’s slogan: “Drugs are not child’s play!”
At the center of attention were the parents, teachers, social tutors, and the rest of the adults who carry the responsibility for the health and well-being of children. Specifically for them, alongside the kids themselves, was created the “Encyclopedia of Independence”, which, as we hope, will become a beneficial practical guide for prevention of such issues as drug addiction, alcoholism and gambling.
Accessible narrative of such complex problems, curious historical and statistical data, practical advice and recommendations of this book will help both the kids and adults alike to know about dangers associated with these diseases, and also the ways of their treatment. Kids and adults armed with this information will be well-prepared to oppose the addictions and handle the ailment.

I’m sincerely happy that such a literary work finally became available to a multitude of readers who need it. The book fully and thoroughly analyzes and systematizes a vast amount of material. Despite this, the material is expressed in such a simple and accessible way, that even a child can comprehend it. I’m convinced that “Encyclopedia of Independence” will play a huge role in solving the problems of drug addiction, alcoholism, and mental illness. I bring a massive gratitude for such a relevant craft on the adequate path of raising the generations of our children and grandchildren.

For Schools and Educational Facilities

“Encyclopedia of Independence” is also part of a complex project of addiction prevention among children and teenagers, created specifically for implementation in the educational facilities setting. The project combines the three following aspects:

  • Speech by the book’s author before the students with a following gifting of the edition branded for the specific educational facility, with a possibility of integrating introductory words from the school’s principal.
  • Speech by a professor of addiction medicine before the students and parents, Q&A session.
  • Demonstration of a solo performance based upon one of the stories described in the book: “History in details”.

Such a project allows to develop the methods of addiction prevention in a complex manner, on all levels of comprehension – both rational and emotional, hence having a powerful motivational effect on the listeners.
